How to use it
- Open the image, then drag a box over the part you want hidden.
- Choose pixelate, blur or a solid box, and set the strength. Select Apply to selection.
- Repeat for other areas. Use Undo if you overdo it, then download.
Which effect hides things best
For anything that must not be recovered, such as account numbers, passwords, addresses or ID numbers, use the solid box. Blur and light pixelation can sometimes be partly reversed on text, particularly on short, predictable strings like numbers, because the blurred shapes still carry information about what was underneath. A solid box carries none.
Pixelate at medium to high strength is fine for faces and number plates in casual photos, and looks tidier than a black box. Blur is the gentlest looking option, best for softening backgrounds or bystanders where privacy matters less.
Check what else is in the picture
Screenshots leak more than people expect: other tabs, notification previews, a name in a chat header, a partial card number in a sidebar. Photos can show a street sign, a house number, a school logo on a uniform, or a boarding pass on a table. Look over the whole image before sending. The file itself may also contain the location where it was taken; strip that with the metadata remover.

Sometimes, especially weak blurs on short text like numbers. For anything sensitive, use the solid box option.

No. The editing happens in your browser, which matters when the whole point is keeping details private.
